Statistics – How do you know what independent variables Basic difference between simple linear regression and multiple regression is that in simple regression there is only one predictor variable but in multiple regression as the name suggests consists of regressing the response variable using multiple i more than one predictor variable. Is one variable likely to explain a complex social phenomenon? For example, I want to explain repurchase (measured on an 11 point scale) of a food product such as a sandwich at a QSR. What is more realistic – stating that one variable such as “overall taste” (measured on a similar scale) – drives repurchase, or that several variables – such as overall taste, price, freshness of product, appearance – drive repurchase? How do you know what independent variables to include in a multiple regression model?
